Participation Tools for Better Community Planning
The Local Government Commission, through funding from The California Endowment, is hosting this webinar to share highlights from our new guidebook – Participation Tools for Better Community Planning – which offers tested tools that local governments and community based organizations can use to improve public participation for healthy land use planning.
The civic infrastructure of our society is equally as important as the physical infrastructure. Community involvement and collaboration plays a crucial role in how we build and develop our communities. In addition to ethical considerations for including people in the decisions and actions that affect their lives, there are many practical reasons to engage residents in the planning process, and many low-cost, high-impact tools to support engagement.
The webinar will feature three compelling examples of tools used successfully in diverse communities throughout California to plan for neighborhoods with access to healthy foods, where people can safely walk, ride a bike or take transit.
A recording of the webinar is now available.
