Hanna Nielsen serves as the Central California CivicSpark Regional Coordinator. Prior to joining LGC in 2020, Hanna served as a CivicSpark Fellow during the launch of the program in 2014-2015. During this service year she designed and piloted a Regional Climate Change Curriculum for schools around Humboldt Bay.
Post CivicSpark, Hanna has worked with local government agencies in various capacities. Most recently she worked as the Education Coordinator for the Humboldt State University Natural History Museum. In this role she provided education materials for local schools and led the HSU internship program where she mentored students interested in becoming environmental educators. Hanna is looking forward to combining her experience with local policy and mentorship in the Regional Coordinator role.
Hanna loves spending time in nature and is passionate about protecting the environment, supporting strong wellness and mental health practices, and helping to build resilient and equitable communities.
