Tim Mok
CivicSpark Implementation Manager
Tim Mok joined the Local Government Commission in 2019 as the Greater Los Angeles Regional Coordinator for the CivicSpark program. He’s also a Program Associate with Smart Growth California, a philanthropic network advancing healthy, equitable, and sustainable communities.
Tim has 6+ years of experience in the environmental non-profit sector where he advocated for environmental justice policies and laws, led environmental education and service-learning workshops, and served as an AmeriCorps member with the Student Conservation Association. He has mentored high school students and worked with them on implementing outdoor rock climbing programs and trail maintenance projects in state parks.
Tim advances equitable development and sustainability in his community by working with diverse stakeholders to improve Los Angeles’s Chinatown for all people. He served as guest editor for WAPOW Magazine’s sustainability issue, a bilingual media project that promotes civic engagement and capacity building in Chinatown. While Tim calls Los Angeles home, he has lived and worked in five different states.
Tim has an M.S. in Regenerative Studies from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a B.S. in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Riverside.
