Cayla McDonell-Encina joined LGC in August 2017 as the Community Design Project Manager. Before joining LGC, Cayla’s was a CEQA/NEPA practitioner in Orange County, CA, and worked primarily on transportation projects. Cayla also has project management, campaign management, grassroots activism, and institutional experience as a former City, State, and Federal Government employee.
Cayla has a Master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from University of California, Irvine. During her time at UC Irvine, she studied user and provider reactions in response to new rideshare, bus, and rail transit regulations as a Network for European and U.S. Urban and Regional Studies Fellow in Berlin, Germany, worked with the Community and Economic Development Clinic at the UC Irvine Law School on neighborhood revitalization and social justice projects, was employed with the City of Fountain Valley in the City Manager’s Office, and was a Transportation Planning Consultant for a private firm in Los Angeles. Cayla completed her B.A. at Sacramento State University in Government with a concentration in International Relations in 2011.
