Exploring San Diego’s Downtown, Neighborhoods and Suburbs
Three-Day Tour of Regional Smart Growth • January 30 to February 1, 2012
LGC once again offered attendees at the 2012 New Partners for Smart Growth conference in San Diego the opportunity to do some in-depth exploring with walkability guru Dan Burden and LGC Associate Director Paul Zykofsky. Volunteers Andy Hamilton from WalkSan Diego and David Schumacher from the San Diego Association of Governments provided the local, in-depth perspective.
This 3-day pre-conference tour combined travel by walking, trolley and coach bus to explore downtown San Diego, old classic neighborhoods, new neighborhoods, and suburban downtowns. Each stop was an opportunity to learn how a wide range of Smart Growth strategies are being implemented in communities of all sizes and shapes in this vibrant region.
The tour starts at 9:00am on Monday, January 30 at the Hampton Inn Hotel in San Diego’s Little Italy neighborhood and ends at the San Diego Sheraton Hotel and Marina (venue for the New Partners for Smart Growth Conference) around 8:30pm on Wednesday night.
