The Judy Corbett Leadership Legacy Scholarship Award was established in 2013 in honor of Judy Corbett, the Founder and former Executive Director of the Local Government Commission.
Judy’s life work and unwavering mission have centered on advancing the cause of planning in the public arena. Her commitment has always been to support and educate local leaders, giving them the tools and strategies necessary to create local policies that encourage more resource-efficient and sustainable development. Judy’s pioneering work has had a remarkable and indelible impact on creating safer, healthier and more livable communities that will be felt far into the future.
It is in this spirit that the LGC has established a scholarship award in Judy’s name that enables one California local elected official to attend the LGC’s Yosemite Conference for Local Elected Officials in Yosemite National Park every year with registration, travel and lodging paid.
Generously funded for the first 3 years (2014-2016) by Randall Lewis, Executive Vice President, Lewis Operating Corporation.
The scholarship will be awarded annually and provides the opportunity for local elected officials who have not yet attended to participate in the Yosemite conference.
