Community Design Matters: Building Walkable, Healthy, Livable Communities

Communities and neighborhoods designed around health will create healthier people! What can we do in Kern County to ensure everyone has the opportunity to live healthy, fulfilling lives? The Local Government Commission is excited to be working with Call to Action for a Healthy Kern on organizing the first workshop in a series that will focus on the intersection between community health and the design of our cities, towns, and neighborhoods.

The day will start with an opening presentation on the relationship between community design and health. This will be followed by a panel discussion entitled “Creating a Healthy Kern County: Challenges, Opportunities and Ideas”, which will feature multiple perspectives and insights on how to build and deliver walkable, healthy, livable communities. Panelists will represent the following perspectives: local elected official, county planning, health professional, and local developer. Come be a part of the conversation and solution for creating a Healthy Kern County.
